A San Jose company has big plans for the future of television, huge in fact. The firm is developing new HD imaging technology called laser phosphor display, or LPD.
Roger Hajjar invented LPD’s 5 years ago and has been perfecting it under wraps at the Prysm labs ever since. His displays create images using a type of laser to reflect light onto phosphor pixels embedded into thin glass and plastic screens.
Prysm’s first products will be introduced next month at a tradeshow in Europe. LPD’s biggest benefit may be to the environment. Unlike most big screens, LPD’s are miserly with power.
If for some reason you are running out of LAN ports on your main router, you can turn your old router into a switch. This can happen if you have many devices and computers plugged into your router, from video game consoles to phones.
The process is quite simple. Run an Ethernet cable from one of the available LAN ports on your active router to the a LAN port on the old router. You’ll need to disable DHCP on the router you want to use as a switch, which you can normally do from your router’s admin page. Make sure your new switch has a non-conflicting IP address, if it doesn’t, assign a new IP address.
