iPhone and iPod Touch 3.1 Jailbreak and Unlock

ipsw Currently, this method is for OS X users only! Your device has to be already jailbroken for firmware 3.0 or 3.0.1 for this to work.

The fallowing list is the iPhone/iPod Firmware Update Files version 3.1 for the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, and iPod touch first, second, and third generation.

caution If you will be using an iPhone 3G and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw

PwnageTool_3.1.3.dmg (Mac OS X)

ultrasn0w After jailbreaking your iPhone 3G/3G S using PwnageTool 3.1.3, you will need to add the source to Cydia to install ultrasn0w. To do this run Cydia and go to Manage and select Sources. Search for and install ultrasn0w. Then reboot your iPhone 3G and enjoy.
US T-Mobile users: disable 3G before unlocking your device with ultrasn0w. You can disable 3G by going to Settings > Network and sliding off the Inable 3G option.• Source: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com (Yes, that is a zero in ultrasn0w)
